The Farm Altamura is located between Pontecagnano Faiano and Montecorvino Pugliano, in the Picentini Mounts district, in a place with absolutely unique pedoclimatic, historical and cultural characteristics; it is surrounded by Alburni Mounts and it overlooks the Sele River Plain which hosts a W.W.F. natural oasis.
In fact the Picentini Area can be considered as a surplus value to the already highly qualified supply in the Salerno area. Thanks to its strategic position among the town of Salerno, the Amalfi Coast and the Cilento Coast, it offers the discovery of an unexpected area rich in uniqueness and typical products.
A “felix” place for opulence and productivity, like the near and old ager.
Rich soils and temperate climate, made famous and renowned this place like a pleasant resort, too. Today like in the past, an important agricultural activity is developed in this area and this activity represents one of the main sectors of the Campania Region.
Many excellence agricultural productions of this area have been awarded the I.G.P., D.O.C., D.O.P., I.G.T. labels: the San Mango Piemonte melannurca, the mozzarella di bufala campana, the olive oil, the Paestum Artichoke, the Montella chestmut, the Sorrento lemon, the Giffoni hazelnut, the Sorrento nut etc. Among wines: the Lacryma cristi of the Vesuvius, the Taurasi, the Greco di Tufo, the Fiano di Avellino, the Galluccio, the Falerno di Massico; the Asprinio di Aversa; the Aglianico; the Ischia.
These several references of excellence are the result of ancient agricultural practices and traditions of this area which still today expresses its productive actuality of main importance on a national level for other crops, too.
